Living and working in a beautiful environment nurtures my creativity. I draw from the energy which comes from such close proximity to the earth, the sea and the sky. As I explore the infinite possibilities clay presents, the line between my control of the clay and its control of me blurs. I know of no better way to express my delight in life than through the immersion of myself in creating forms and gifting them to the fire. The gift returns to me to inspire and enthuse.
My joy in these processes is enhanced when I join with potters in creative exploration. Whether group activities centre around high temperature wood firing or the wonder of raku, the shared journey thrills. My Rock Pool Tea Pots speak of my shared experiences with high temperature wood firing. My enclosed forms symbolize the nurturing influence of sea and stars. Clay and fire interact in the Raku kiln and the smoke has the final power, serendipitously adding its own mystery.
